High blood pressure (hypertension) is often called the "silent killer" because you can have it for years without knowing it. Most people with high blood pressure experience no symptoms. If uncontrolled, high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure or kidney failure. Fortunately, high blood pressure can be detected with simple testing. Once people know they have high blood pressure, they can work with a provider to control it. |
